The worm moves nonstop and stops at screen edges. The player changes direction to steer it. It travels below the surface and across open terrain with equal ease. The player rotates it in both modes. Engaging turbo ramps up its speed.
The worm attacks any enemy it touches. Foot soldiers and light jeeps fall with a single strike. Heavier trucks and rocket launchers take three hits to break. Aircraft absorb several blows to collapse at last. Each foe shows its own toughness in the damage it absorbs.
Enemies grow tougher over time. Foot soldiers appear first. Machine-gun jeeps and troop carriers follow close behind. Planes drop paratroopers from above. A burrowing rocket truck lurks underground and fires missiles. Players target that vehicle fast to dodge its attacks. The worm regains health underground. It emerges only for quick strikes on multiple foes and tops up its vitality.
