Introduction to Warship Royale

Warship Royale stands out as a tabletop naval battle across a big grid. Players take command of personalized fleets and fire volleys at each other. You can pick a modern destroyer or a wooden sailing vessel. Other options include a sea monster or a simple kayak. Games unfold on a 10 by 10 grid or on a larger 12 by 12 or 15 by 15 board. Standard and advanced modes change what tools you get.

Each standard match starts with every player drawing ship cards. Games with two to four players leave each fleet at three ships after discards. Five or six players leave each fleet at two ships. You roll dice on your turn to learn how many shots you get. You aim at grid spaces and try to sink enemy ships. Landing the final blow wins you that ship’s card and gives you a bonus shot to use now or later. Play keeps going. Only one fleet can end up holding all the remaining ships. That player wins.

Advanced mode adds a submarine in every fleet. You switch that submarine between surface travel and hidden dives. Each fleet can use sonar only once. You fire a sonar sweep before an enemy sinks your sub to reveal hidden targets. After that, you roll dice for all your shots at once. Sinking an enemy ship awards a bonus card. You use those cards for extra shots or more sonar sweeps. Clever ship placement helps too. Big ships sit near open water to draw enemy fire. Small vessels hide along the edges and take fewer hits to sink. Every match feels fresh thanks to those choices and the mix of ship types.
